cannot answer phone from lock screen

I have an iPhone 6 running latest update 8.3. Recently when the phone rings while in Lock Screen mode, no caller id appears along with no way to simply slide over the button to answer. It requires me to unlock the screen first to determine who is calling. Not a useful change. I am unable to locate a setting which may have caused this. Please tell me if anyone else is recently having these issues and what you did to solve this? I am doubting that I created this sudden change. Thank you.
