Why do I need to hit STOP twice to stop recording in LPX? control surface is Tascam DM4800

I use he DM4800 as a control surface for LPX. The transport and faders all work fine, but once recording a track, I can only stop the recording by hitting the STOP button twice on the Tascam. I can't find where to adjust for that anywhere, either on the Tascam side nor LPX. I realize this is an esoteric request but in case someone knows...
