Plus sign in Pages table cell

I have that annoying plus sign in the right side of a table cell in Pages. I have Pages '08. I have tried all the suggestions on this help site and none have worked. Re-sizing the cell DID place the text in the middle of the cell (vertically speaking), but it also made ALL cells larger and obliterated the right and left cell border in the offending cell. Here's a screen shot. You can see that there are no invisibles next to the text <new handle>.

The plus sign is there because you have scrunched the text in the row. You need to make the row taller.

You get the plus sign any time the text doesn’t have enough room to fit in the cell.

I don't understand how that could be. The row and the size of text are identical to the row and text one line above. How could I scrunch the text? Also, how do I select only that row? I tried to select the cell and then *change row height* in the Inspector and every row changed, which screwed up the document.

The text has overflowed, either a return or something else. Have you forward deleted from the last word?

Slowly move your cursor to the line between the rows of cells. When it changes to a line with up and down arrows, click and drag the line betwen the rows to make the row taller. The plus sign will disappear when the row is tall enough.
