I need help getting my ipad 2 back to a full screen. What do I need to do?

Full screen from where? Safari? We have no idea where you are not seeing a full screen. If you are asking about Safari and you see the bookmarks window on the left side of the iPad, just tap the solid blue bookmark icon next to the url field and the bookmark window will go away.
Any time that you tap on the +sign to add a new tab or tap the bookmarks icon, that window will reappear. If you turn the iPad in portrait mode, the window will go away on its own. If you use the iPad in landscape mode like I do almost 95% of the time, you have to dismiss the window manually like I explained. I believe it's a bug that has been in iOS 8 for a while now because every once in a while, when using my iPad in landscPe mode, it will go away on its own.
TThis worked but when I went out of Safari and then back in it was not in full screen again! Can I make it go away for good?
tapping the blue icon worked fine and now it does not come on by itself any more. Thanks for solving the issue it was really easy.. Make me feel stupid!
