Q: rMBP 2015 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network)

I can't seem to find out what is waking my Mac up so much. Battery life on standby is terrible. Snippet from running "syslog | grep -i "Wake reason"" through Terminal:

Can't seem to find out the issue via Google. I have extensively searched.

Appreciate any help.

P.S. this is a duplicate from rMBP 2015 10.10.3 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network). I do not know how it ended up in the OS X Mavericks section because I clearly remembered choosing Yosemite from the dropdown list. Anyhow, that one is closed and I would appreciate any help I can get from this section of the forum.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Did you check this article: Enhanced notifications that can wake your Mac

Try to use "Do not disturb" for notifications and see if there is any progress: OS X Yosemite: Turn off notifications

Thanks for your reply. But I am afraid those two links you offered I could not open them. Is it only mine behaving like that?

    Hello again,

I just tried the mentioned "do not disturb" setting in the notifications. Unfortunately, enabling this option did not help at all. My MacBook still continues to wake up  every 10-30 minutes with wakeup reason "ARPT (Network)" or "ARPT: Wake Reason: Wake on TCP Timeout".

    Any other ideas?

    Regards,

    Stephan

Same here. I played with DNT setting as well. No effect.

My wake reasons are redundance of the following reason.

    Jun 22 03:27:29  kernel[0] <Notice>: Wake reason: ARPT (Network)

Jun 22 03:27:29  kernel[0] <Notice>: ARPT: Wake Reason: Wake on Scan offload; Disconnect reason: Class 3 frame received from nonassociated STA

    Jun 22 03:27:29  kernel[0] <Notice>: AppleDeviceManagementHIDEventService::processWakeReason Wake reason: Host (0x01)

Same issue with my MacBook 2015 guys, latest model, latest Yosemite.

Just doesn't go to sleep, or keeps waking up at least.

Since the new Yosemite update I've been struggling with WiFi connectivity generally - all Mac's I have (iMac, MBP, MB). On the laptops, almost every time i close the lid and open it up again i have to switch off wifi and then switch it back on again for it to work (though, it gets an ip address, it just doesn't load anything, as if its not connected - until i off/on the adapter).

Could the WiFi driver be causing the waking issue too?

In the last 3 purchases of Macs, i have had an issue out of the box with every single one of them.

Just getting frustrated that rather than improving software, they are getting worse and more unstable... and rather than improving materials, they are breaking easier and easier. Very annoyed with Apple.

If I go to the Apple store regarding this, and once again they tell me that after spending £1200 on a laptop 3 weeks ago, I need to send it of for repair, I swear to god I will beat the genius guy with it till he/she cries.

I saw macrumors have a post that said this link might help.  Anyone can give a try and see if that helps?

Hi, miromitov. As it's said, OS X El Capitan is considered a great stability release. Maybe you can try it out when the public beta is offered. Mid July maybe.

As for the wake stuff, I think I messed with it for this long and made some progress and discoveries.

    1. It's almost always related to WiFi. Turning off the WiFi before sleeping solves the problem.

    2. Option-clicking the notification icon in the top right corner enters the DND mode. It greatly helps.

    3. Turn off these two options in Energy Saver "wake for network access" and "Enable power nap". Since we are all 2015 models, you should also see those options listed. If not, open terminal and paste the following code and press enter. Then copy paste your output here for further investigation.

The command to enter in terminal:

    pmset -g

Hi, Leung. Here's my output for 'pmset -g'.

I completely disabled the standby feature. If I closed my lid, my mac directly enters sleep mode. Without the need to write stuff to disk, it kept them right in memory. There may be some danger if your mac lose power completely. But I don't think this would happen to me. So I just ignore this warning. For those who would dive into this, entering "man pmset" in terminal to check out the detailed info.

    Active Profiles:

    Battery Power -1

    AC Power -1*

    Currently in use:

    standbydelay        172800

    standby              0

    womp                0

    halfdim              1

    hibernatefile        /var/vm/sleepimage

    darkwakes            0

    gpuswitch            2

    networkoversleep    0

    disksleep            0

sleep                0 (sleep prevented by coreaudiod)

    autopoweroffdelay    14400

    hibernatemode        0

    autopoweroff        0

    ttyskeepawake        1

    displaysleep        30

    acwake              0

    Not really.

I thought it fixed. Still puzzled by the misbehavior... Hope 10.10.4 next week or the El Capitan would fix it.

FYI, after trying out the new Public Beta of El Capitan, I think the wake issue is resolved. After sleeping for more than 7 hours with wifi connected, the wake log shows nothing related to wifi stuff. Anyway, El Capitan is so much nicer than Yosemite.

Same device and same problem here. But I've not met this before until I updated to 10.10.4. Tried resetting SMC and PRAM, testing in safe boot and in another account, all failed. Maybe just rebooting or downgrading to 10.10.3 left, which really is a hassle.

I'll just remember to turn off wifi before closing the lid, and wait for the El Capitan =.=
