Q: rMBP 2015 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network)

I can't seem to find out what is waking my Mac up so much. Battery life on standby is terrible. Snippet from running "syslog | grep -i "Wake reason"" through Terminal:

Can't seem to find out the issue via Google. I have extensively searched.

Appreciate any help.

P.S. this is a duplicate from rMBP 2015 10.10.3 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network). I do not know how it ended up in the OS X Mavericks section because I clearly remembered choosing Yosemite from the dropdown list. Anyhow, that one is closed and I would appreciate any help I can get from this section of the forum.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

    I have every feature in settings that might be related to this waking pattern turned off. These include:

    Everything in Sharing;

    Wake for Wifi network access;

    Power Nap;

    Do I have to turn Time Machine itself off? And turn on every time I would like a backup?

    For people having the same problem, I'd like to ask you to execute the command below in terminal.

    pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

    Mine output is 0. Another command would show how many sleep and wakes your mac has been through is

    pmset -g stats

    Below is my output. You can clearly see all those dark wakes are not waked by me. They are what make us really annoyed.

    Sleep Count:145

    Dark Wake Count:140

    User Wake Count:5

    What's worse, I'm currently on the latest beta of El Capitan. The problem still exists.

    Have you tried disabling the "find my mac" feature?

    I'm not exactly sure what fixed it for me since I was playing with so many things, but eventually I got it so the machine would only wake up 5-ish times in 8 hours instead of 32 times.

    The one thing that DID fix it was disabling wifi, which is not the correct solution, but might be a good temporary workaround for some people.

    It would help if the syslog output said WHAT application was causing a wakeup instead of just why the wakeup happened.

    No. My current setting for find my mac is on but I did turn off the network wake up. So I have a ' ! ' next to the find my mac option.

    I just turn off find my mac. I will report my findings later. BTW, why not execute the command I listed above and share the output?

    Mine rMBP early '15 is still on service. What I know is that last thursday they ordered system board and wifi board. Hopefully these parts will arrive on tuesday. I will update this up if problem solved by replacing those boards. The service technician on ASP said it's HW based issue due problem not solved by reinstall / clean install of OSX.

    BTW, if it's gonna be a hw issue, I think it may be the wifi.

    I think that this conclusion relies on the fact that it is not a problem/bug in OSX. If there is a software-based problem in the OS, a clean reinstall would still not fix it.

    I'm still in doubt if the problem is caused by the hardware. That would be a lot of machines with identical hardware problem...

    Well, I'm surprised. Yesterday I got the unit back from the authorized service provider and DANG: Only system board was replaced. I asked why because me and Apple Senior Advisor had advised the ASP to replace both system and wifi board. I didn't got response from the ASP. Who is surprised that issue persist? No one. They also scratched the unit during service and I wasn't really pleased with this kind of service. After couple of emails to senior I got phone call from him and he apologized the situation and said they (Apple) will provide a new rMBP for me after this show. I sent few images about the scratches to the senior and he take a look to them and said he will call to me tomorrow (today).

    Today after few emails and calls done with him I'm really satisfied. New rMBP early '15 is ordered and will be delivered via UPS and this old (yeah 1 month old) unit will be picked up also by UPS AND I had chance to choose few accessories made by Apple for free for refunding this horrible experience with service.

    Fingers crossed that a new rMBP will be working properly and I will not see this ARPT in logs never again.

    Glad that Apple has solved the issue with the scratched rMBP for you.

    Please keep us updated. I am really curious to know if the new rMBP fixes the issue for you. If not, this would be a proof that this is not a hardware-based problem.

    I think it may be different between routers. It seems some routers would cause consistent wake up while others don't.

    Just wanted to add that I also have this problem with my brand new 12" Macbook (just the "Macbook", not the Air or Pro model). Makes it even more unlikely that this is a hardware problem.

    Tried so far: Restored the standard settings for energy saving. Closed all apps before closing the lid. Didn't help!

    @DreamSeason: why do you think it is Wifi router related? What could a router do to wake up the Macbook?

    Apple should really have a look at this annoying problem and solve it finally!
