USB-C to DisplayPort Cable Problem

I purchased a USB-C to DisplayPort cable from Google Store.

When I plug it in to the 12-inch macbook, I get a USB Devices Disabled error message,

even with no device connected on the displayport side. I've tried doing the SMC

and NVRAM resets. The console reports an overcurrent condition.

I suspect it's a bad cable or maybe there's some incompatibility.

Does anyone have any successful experiences with this cable on a macbook?
