Service claiming to be Apple Care support, asking to call 1-855-582-0026

An automatic pop up message on my chrome browser read "your anti-virus firewall has expired. Please contact 1-855-582-0026 immediately for support".

I panicked and called that number, which unlike, a toll-free customer service line, range 4-5 times and somebody with a Hispanic sounding accent answered, in a non-professional tone. This is how the conversation went:

Man on the phone: Hello

Me: Hi (pause)

Man: Hello, hello?

Me: Is this apple care support?

Man: (Pauses, shuffling sound heard) Um, yes, what do you want

Me: I received a message (and then mid-way through my sentence, I realized this could be a scam and hung up)

Can Apple authenticate this supposed to be apple care, toll free number? Or is this really a scam?
