what is home folder for disk diagnostic

I started to run disk diagnostics for the first time to help me determine why every program I open is running so slowly, especially safari, and it asked me to choose my 'home folder" . I don't know what it is asking for - what is my home folder? Applications? I realize this is a very simplistic question and I should probably know the answer but I'm feeling lost and confused, so would appreciate any help.
