No more merge function in Pages ?

Why does the merge function disappeared since iwork 09 ? it was very useful to fill a Pages document with Numbers datas in a mailing for instance.

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

As an entirely new application, Pages v5 inherited little of the old Pages '09 capabilities — including the former's built-in merge functionality. The iWork '09 applications will work on Yosemite. They may reside in your current /Applications/iWork '09 folder, or can be reinstalled via the iWork '09 DVD, and then updated to their latest versions with the Apple iWork 9.3 updater.

With Pages '09 and Pages v5 co-installed, understand that the Pages v5 document format is not backwards compatible with Pages '09, and that any double-click on a Pages document icon will open in Pages v5.

I would use what is built-in to Pages '09 v4.3. as a first choice.

Apple thought that everyone is an AppleScript programmer, so they boasted that they provided the AppleScipt definitions (Pages v5.5.2 and later) that allow individuals to write their own merge solutions. Someone has done that at this link, and the author frequently posts in the Pages support community for additional information on his AppleScript merge solution. You may wish to implement this solution for yourself — or not.

Since we are an international group of unpaid Apple Support Community volunteers, Apple is neither here, nor do they share non-disclosure information with us. It has been 20 months since Pages v5 was first released in 10/2013. Apple apparently has zero priority in adding very visible omissions such as built-in merge, so there is no point wishing for it.
