I have had my ipad2 for some time now. yesterday i was able to plug charger into it for charging and today I can't. Why could that be? Is it broken? It plugs into ipod fine, no worries for that. But got problems on my ipad's behalf... Please help and is it expensive to fix? Tia.

Yes., the cable's are interchangeable but the chargers are different. You can use the iPad charger to charge the iPod Touch but using the charger that came with the iPod Touch to charge the iPad isn't recommended as it doesn't have enough power & would result in the iPad charging very slowly.

Have you looked at the charging port of the iPad to see if any dirt/lint/object is obstructing it? If so, try to gently clean it out with a toothpick (Gently) then try again.
Yes I have looked in the port, but couldn't see anything in there. I blew in there in case of any dust.... Might get toothpick in there as too dark in there to see much...
Nope, toothpick didn't work... What else could it be? It's my only source of sanity right now, as I'm recovering from carpel tunnel surgery... Hubby replies on ipad too for stuff.....
Shine a flashlight in the port...do you see anything protruding or any bent metal? If the charger is still plugging into your other devices then something in the iPad 2's port must be stopping you from plugging it in. Can you insert it part way or it is not plugging in at all?
If you can't see anything & can no longer plug in the charger, then I'm afraid it't time for you to make an appointment at a Genius Bar.& see if they can determine what's causing the problem & hopefully be able to fix it.
When power is on, when I try to press charger in, makes charging ping, but when I let go, its not connecting.... I'll try using a torch to flash into it. Will see what I can find...

Can't see anything there still. Am thinking one side is being obstructed.... Extremely frustrating... Can't see inside ipad port as it's closed. Must open when charger plugs in. ipods dont have ports like that. They are open... Hope I made sense. Hard to explain details....

You are using the correct wall plug for the iPad & NOT the iPod wall charger, correct? If it is making the charging ping then it sounds like it is connecting but not receiving enough power. Try switching to another outlet & try another cable if you have one,
I have now made appt with local guy who fixes Apple products. The ipo touch and ipad2 use exactly same chager and have same size/shaped ports...
