Making Photo Booth pictures not reversed?

I would like to know if there's a way to take a picture with Photo Booth, and then change it so it isn't like it was taken in a mirror. For example, if you are wearing something on your shirt, to take a picture with Photo Booth and then actually be able to read it left to right in the picture.

I'm not sure what you mean. When I take it, it doesn't take the photo like a normal camera would... everything is reversed. Even after I bring it to iPhoto, I haven't found an option that puts it back to normal.

Wow, you're right! I'd never noticed this before.

I've always known that the "live" picture being displayed in Photo Booth was mirrored, but I never knew that the picture itself would be that way.

I just took a picture of myself holding a newspaper. Sure enough, the saved image has the headlines backwards.

There's a way to fix this in Adobe Photoshop, but I don't know about iPhoto.

In any case, it isn't something that should have to be fixed--it should take the image properly, shouldn't it?

I'm sorry you're having a time with Photo Booth. Try the Photo Booth help screen. It tells how to "flip" your photos. And you can instruct the program to do so automatically for every shot you make. This is done by selecting a photo and then using the "Edit" dropdown menu at the top of the computer screen.

Thanks to both Joe and Keith for the very simple answer to this solution.

It makes you wonder why this setting isn't on by default, though.

Probably one of those Steve Jobs' quirks--such as his disdain for the multi-button mouse. We just gotta live with it 🙂

If your mouse functions are limited, you might look at the USB Overdrive poop at http://tinyurl.com/kvca6. I've used Overdrive for some time, and it enables the two buttons and the scroll wheel on my various mouses to do whatever I want them to do, both on a couple of iBooks and a new MacBook. The comments at the cited web site about Overdrive's ineffectuality with MacBook's Intel chip may apply to new downloads of this shareware, but when I firewired my old version of it from an iBook to a new MacBook, along with everything else on the iBook hard drive, Overdrive came up working just fine. Kagi asks $20 for the software, but once registered, it apparently tansfers to any other computers you have.

Go to the menu bar and select Edit>Auto Flip New Photos. That'll do the trick.

The small photo at the bottom right of the Photo Booth screen is "reversed" as you want it. Click on it and then on the iPhoto button to place it in iPhoto, where you can use it as you like.
