Ipod classic is not syncing - Itunes is installed on Windows

I have recently uploaded a CD in I-Tunes, but cannot sync the new CD on my I-Pod classic (120GB). Furthermore, I formatted the I-Pod (restoring factory settings) and have lost all my music on the I-Pod. Returning to I-Tunes it momentarily says it's syncing and then it stops, with no songs on my I-Pod.

I have uninstalled I-Tunes and re-installed (version 12.1.2) but to no avail. Does anyone have a solution to this very frustrating problem?
