on start up disk slot makes weird noise

this isn't my question but its my friends mac makes this weird noise like dvvv divvv when on start up coming from disk slot

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), my favourite mac

It is normal to make some DVD drive "access" noise at startup. If the drive still works (reads CDs or DVDs), don't worry about it - until it doesn't work anymore!
