Can't open a track from iTunes in Garageband.

Why can't I open a track from iTunes 12.1.2.27 in Garageband 10.0.3? The track is grayed out.

I loaded the tracks into iTunes from a legally purchased CD.

I'm using an iMac OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), Mac OS X (10.5.7), null

Are the tracks in iCloud Match? Download them first, otherwise you cannot use them in the Media Browser. GarageBand needs a local copy.

from a legally purchased CD.

Even a legally purchased CD may have a protection. Do the songs show in your iTunes Library as

"Kind : Protected AAC audio file", when you open the "File" tab in the Inspector panel?

Then you cannot use them directly in GarageBand. Make a backup copy of the album by burning an Audio CD in iTunes and reimport. That will help sometimes.
