My son replaced the battery in his iPhone 5S. Now has blue screen issues and it intermittently restarts. Charge level inaccurate. Someone suggested it may have to do with the repairer replacing certain screws in the wrong place??

Since the "repairer" was probably a unauthorized service provider, they have probably fried the phone. The blue screen is a symptom of a massive hardware failure. Take it back to the "repairer".
Apple will never touch that phone. And the warranty and any out of warranty service are now void.
