How to install iPhone drivers on Windows 8.1 N

Hello everyone,

I have some troubles with my iDevices connecting to my new computer. It is a Windows 8.1 N laptop. When I plug-in my device, it does not show up in "This PC", so I can't copy pictures from the iPhone to the PC. I have no troubles with syncing my devices with iTunes, it is only that none of my devices show up under "This PC".

I compared the drivers of my laptop my other laptops and tablets, and it looks like I am missing some files on this PC. One of them is called wpdmtp.inf, the other I need to look for. I have them somewhere on USB. The problem is that copying these files to my new laptop and install after copying doesn't work.

Does anyone have a solution?

If you install the latest iTunes it will install all needed drivers. There is no capability or need to be able to view the iPhone's storage; in fact, it is not a supported feature of the iPhone. To copy pictures use the Microsoft Camera and Scanner Wizard, or a photo management app.

Hi Lawrence,

This is not the right answer. I tried installing the latest iTunes version multiple times. Normally (on my other computers) I can view my pictures on my iPhone when I click on "This PC". This is the only laptop in which this is not the case en the only difference is the Windows 8.1 N operating system.

You can't just reinstall iTunes. You need to completely remove it first. See: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes
