I updated to 10.2 and now the program hangs anytime I try to play a clip.
Anyone else dealing with this?

Delete preferences by holding down the option and command keys when you launch the app. That should also create a fresh library. Import a clip to see whether it can be played from the timeline. If it can, open up you're original library.

That didn't work.
I tried importing a clip and playing it. I still get the beach ball.
TTry making a new clean admin user.
How do I do that?

What kind of clips are these? Where did you get them?
edit: Can you open and play a clip that played OK before you updated?
I've imported clips from my built in camera quite easily before the upgrade.
Now those clips will record, but not play.
Not sure what you're saying. Do you have a specific clip that you imported before you updated and that you could play before the update?
And regardless, can you play any and all of the clips if opened in the Finder with QuickTime Player…or VLC?
Same thing is happening to my FCP 10.2.1 I've deleted preferences, created new user, deleted third party plug-ins, re-installed a fresh copy of fcpx, nothing seems to work...
How much RAM do you have ?
