Pages v5.5.3 will open Pages '09 documents. It cannot open Pages '08 documents, and will dialog you about opening these in Pages '09.

Do you currently have one of the following folders?

  • /Applications/iWork '08
  • /Applications/iWork '09

If the answer is no to both, then you will need to purchase the iWork '09 DVD, and then immediately apply the Apple iWork 9.3 updater. The updater will give you Pages '09 v4.3, the latest revision, and what is required to work on Yosemite. Afterwards, run Disk Utility on your boot drive, and verify/repair permissions.
