Q: Unable to install and update Keynote on my iPad 2

I have tried every possible solution I could find on the Web with no luck.

Anyone here is in the same boat and found a successful solution?

Thanks

    Thanks for your help Deggie.

I connect my iPad with USB cable to my iMac.

Launch iTunes and confirme that can access my iPad

I select Keynote in the left side list and click Synchronise button at the bottom iTunes window.

I can see in my iPad that it is loading but everything stops at about 60%

I have tried also deleting Keynote from the iPad by holding the app icon and select the X to delete it but it won't delete.

Really tried every possible solution out there. Nothing works for me.

I even deleted manually Keynote.ipa manually and downloaded again.

There seems to be a sync problem between the iPad and IMac.

The horizontal scrolling bar showing the evolution of the transfert to the iPad goes much faster than the small circle showing the download time.

When the syncing is finished in Itunes, there is about 40% left showing on the Keynote icon and it stops there.

Touching the icon, it changes to "pause"

Touching it again, it changes to loading but nothing happens.

I have put a lot of time into this annoying problem.

One more thing, my wife have a more recent iPad and no problem doing the update.

Sorry for my english.... hope I am clear enough.

    Regards

    Richard

Try to delete Keynote this way. On your iPad, Go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Keynote>Delete App. Then try to download it again.

    Demo,

Keynote is not showing in there.

Still, I don't understand why I see a grayed Keynote icon in my iPad which I cannot delete using the standard procedure.

    Thanks

You see a gray Keynote icon because the app isn't completely downloaded/installed on your iPad. You are trying to complete the download but because it's stalled and incomplete, the icon is gray and the app is unusable.

Have you tried resetting the iPad? Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Yes I have tried resetting the iPad.

When i do, the Keynote icon is still there and not being able to do anything with it.

Then I resync with iTunes and same problem, the download to the iPad stops at about 60%

I guess the only thing left for me to do is to initialise the iPad and start all over installing my apps.

    I can't do a restore from a backup.

it will contain the same keynote icon problem.

    Thanks

Anything else before I jump into initialing the iPad?

If you are using Keynote with iCloud, try logging into iCloud.com on your computer. Open Keynote in iCloud and see if you can find a problematic file in there. If you can find one, try deleting it.  Then see if Keynote will update or download.

I am not using iCloud in the iPad for Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

On my iMac I have deactivated iCloud drive and consequently Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

There is no files in there also.

In the iPad when not connected to my iMac, I go to Appstore and can see beside Keynote icon, a small cloud with an arrow pointing down.

When i tap that small cloud, it changes to a circle with a small square in its center. I can see that it begins downloading the app but the download stops at a little bit pass half of the download. Then nothing.

    Thanks again for your time

I'm at a loss now. But I do have one more question. Were you ever using iCloud with Pages, Numbers and Keynote? If you were using iCloud at one point and turned it off, maybe that cause the problem. If you were using it, it might help to turn iCloud on again for Keynote.

If you are going to restore as new anyway, it's not going to hurt anything.

    I am at lost also...

I bought Keynote, Pages and Numbers from Appstore for the iMac.

For the later, everything is fine and updates are done without any problems.

For the iPad, i bought all three from iTunes store.

Pages and Numbers are downloaded and updated without any problems also.

But not Keynote.... God knows why !!!!

I have tried all the options as far as iCloud and iCloud Drive on iMac and iPad.

On the iPad, Keynote won't show up under iCloud Drive because I am not even able to install it.

Both Numbers and Pages show up when iCloud Drive is activated in the iPad.

You might want to consider contacting iTunes Store support via email. There is no charge for email support. I just don't know what else to suggest now.

    No problem Demo.

I think I am not the only one with the problem.

Personally, I think that the Keynote problem is due to system 8.3 and my old iPad 2 because I did not have any problem updating my iPhone 5s and my wife's iPad which is the one before the AIR version. Mine is older, model 1395, year 2011.

Maybe Apple will look into this and come up with a fix with the next OS update.

Well, thanks a lot for helping me

    Best regards

I'm sorry that I don't have anything useful to offer. I had no problem at all updating my iPad Air 2, my iPad 3rd generation or my iPhone 5S. The only thing that I can think of that's causing this is that you have a corrupt document in Keynote and you can't delete it because the app won't finish downloading now.

Did you try getting into Keynote in iCloud.com on the Mac? Or launch Keynote on the Mac after you turned on iCloud And access your files from iCloud that way?

    Yes I did all that.

Also, I have no files saved in there.

    The Keynote folder is empty.
