If you are unable to connect to Apple CDN, you will see this issue.
Can you check if your DNS has been 'hijacked' by malware? Run the following command in OS X Terminal and post the output.
grep apple.com /etc/hosts
grep apple.com /private/etc/hosts
Do I post both Codes? i.e.. both lines as one.
Triple-click on each individual line, Copy (Command+C) and Paste (Command+V) into the Terminal window. Copy/Paste the information into a Reply, remove any personal information and click on Reply.
This is from the first line of code. grep apple.com /etc/hosts
2nd line of code grep apple.com /private/etc/hosts
Thes are the 2 lines of code . I know how to copy and paste the but noy sure if you want the 2 lines combined as 1 or as it is here line 1 and line 2.
If neither command results in any output, at least your DNS looks clean ( Reference - OS X: Server addresses used by Software Update - Apple Support ).
Does it fail after a partial download, or does it fail as soon as it starts downloading?
It start's copying files but when it gets so far , (about three quarters of the way) it stalls . i.e., it stops doing anything , I have to stop it because it doesn't move . The second time I stopped it it was after 10 minutes .
Are you also combining a Windows ISO file? Can you verify if the USB is a USB2 device?
I'm inserting a USB 2 and the iso is on the desktop of the mac
From Finder, can you post a screen shot of the USB file structure?
I'm sorry I'm not with you do yo minaret I plug it in or what?
