Cannot answer calls on Apple watch

i am unable to receive calls through the Apple watch. I receive notifications of the call and get the decline or accept buttons but if i tap the green button it answers on my iPhone6 instead of the Watch. I can make calls from the watch just fine. everything else seems to be working well also. I just can't receive a call on the watch and then talk through the watch.

Hi, i have bought the watch and everything works well except the phone call. i am using the iPhone 6. the incoming shows on the screen but when i accept i can not hear or talk. When i want to call someone from the watch it always shows "call failure" don't get it whats the point to sell these products if they arent working well at the first place. Weird any help will do have tried the hard reset and even the re pairing method, nothing has worked for me. Any other methods any one?

I can confirm that after upgrading to Watch OS 2 ( IOS 9) . I can now make call and receive calls in the UAE ( Middle East). Previously it did not work. I am a developer. My theory is Apple has decoupled the calling and receiving of calls. If FaceTime is disabled in Middle East countries then FaceTime audio is disabled otherwise normal calls through your service provider will work.

OK I have a few tips here after literally spending the last 6 weeks trying everything to get the phone function to work on the Watch. Countless hours on my own, on the phone with Apple Support, at Genius Bar etc. Anyway, what I have learned is that NOTHING else can be using my cell number or have a profile for my iPhone on Bluetooth, even if it is not being used and I am nowhere near it, or the watch won't make or receive calls. In my case there were a few culprits:

- I once used my iPhone cell connection to tether to my iPad to get service on my iPad when I wasn't on wifi. The iPad stored an iPhone Bluetooth profile. I had to go into my iPad and delete that profile (go to the profile and do "forget this device"). This was interfering even when the iPad was nowhere near me.

- In FaceTime settings on my Mac there's a box that says "iPhone Cellular connection" and then explains that if this box is ticked the iPhone cell connection is used to make FaceTime calls when the iPhone is nearby and on wifi. This box has to be UNTICKED. This means that iPhone calls cannot be answered on your Mac anymore.

- I have a Panasonic cordless phone that had a bluetooth profile for my cell phone. I had to unpair it and remove the profile.

After I did all those things my watch now works. Obviously this is a glitch that Apple will have to work out because it's no good for you to have to turn off everything else in order to use the watch, but for now that's the way it seems to be, at least with my carrier (I don't know if the carrier you are with makes a difference or not).

SAme problem... In fact for me this is relating to the number of contacts i have in my phone. The resolution of the id call is done by the watch not by the phone. You can test this very easily by asking one of your contact to call you without id call (anonymous) and you will sse that the watch rings strait ...

the only way to sort this is to remove tour non used contacts in your phone ( impossible for me)

i hope this will help

This is a good answer. However I do recommend that if your have a choice between power cycling your phone by holding down the power button until you see the slider then sliding to power off, and Holding both button to force a restart, it is always better to power cycle.

Resetting your phone with the two buttons is just like unplugging a desktop computer while it is running. Sometimes it is necessary but not often.

I Hope this helps!

Ok this is conformed if you don't have Facetime Apple watch telephone and sms features will be non-responsive. I have an 6+ whose FT is blocked by DU and it did not work inspite of trying all the tricks in this blog but after reading your tip I connected to an unblocked 6 and it worked like it's supposed to. TRUST IPHONE to find a way to mess up something!!!!! Very disappointed. Can someone from Apple respond and fix this?

Seems I didn't follow the directions EXACTLY, but what DID work for me was to simply reset the watch by powering-off then restarting it.

While the watch was restarting, which takes a good 25 or so seconds, I did follow the instructions to close all apps on the phone, too.

Then after the watch got back in touch with phone, all seems normal again.

Beginners, as "they" said below/above. Growing pains for having "The Latest Greatest!" _and_ being the 1st - I guess.

May I ask, where is it that you turned OFF WiFi calls? (On the Watch App, or someplace else?) I cannot see where I turn off WiFi calls. I didn't even KNOW you can make WiFi calls on the iPhone. (You can?)

-----------------

(I posted this earlier, I thought, it came back as ''recovered reply.")

But it's NO longer true - it seems 50% of incoming phone calls NEVER make it to the watch. Apple?)

At first, seemed it DID work, but no longer. Mind you, I've upgraded to the "beta" iOS - I'm sure that's not helping.

You're correct - it depends on the carrier.

Verizon-Wireless. Nope!

But thank you VERY much for that suggestion, it may very well/likely help others.

(For me, using VZW) It's just not consistent that the phone goes to the watch. Sometimes it does, and others, nope.

Patiently awaiting for the next version/upgrade for both the iPhone (now that I'm using the beta) and the watch. I'm sure they'll have plenty of bug-fixes.

Thank you.

Hello kind people

I just found on that you have to switch on "notification privacy" its a glitch i think. you can find it in the apple watch app then notification and then turn on notification privacy. Apple Watch>Notification>Notification Privacy. Turn this on. ********* I can figure it out and help you better.
