Importing an iMovie as one continuous segment

I have an iMovie I made in 2001 using the previous interface. I exported the movie back onto the digital tape. I want to import that back into iMovie as a continuous flow. When I import, iMovie breaks it into segments and puts it into a different order. Is there a way to import it as one piece?

You could try recording into Quick Time Player 10 and then import that into iMovie.

QuickTime Player 10.x: Record video or audio

To change the input source or quality of the recording, click the arrow button in the controller

Set the record quality option to as high as you can .
