Apple TV toslink to 3.5mm

Hi,


So i've been wanting to use my apple tv on my monitor for a while now (it has no built in sound)


So I purchased this but plugging it in to the apple tv then the 3.5mm into it doesnt seem to make the sound work...


did I buy the wrong thing or has something happened??


Any help appreciated

HDMI is the only supported method, there will be no guarantee with any other. You would also need a DAC (digital to analogue converter) for the audio. Even if everything did work you would be unable to view protected content (unless monitor is HDCP compliant) and functionality could cease at any time
