iPhone 5 ios 8.3 Wifi stops working - router passwords won't work
iPhone 5 - iOS 8.3 - Wifi not working/password issue
Symptoms
- Wifi symbol goes away
- Wifi can be "on" but not working (less than 1 mps or not at all)
- logon to local router - "password is incorrect" (password verified correct)
- logon to some apps (i.e. Facebook) "password is incorrect" and/or connection required (password verified correct)
- Same symptoms reported from other family iPhones (5's and 6's) in multiple states (iOS 8.3)
- One related household in Maryland has 5 iPhones (not updated to 8.3) and have no issues (yet)
- LOTS of blogs online with identical combinations of the same symptoms
Steps taken to date...(suggested and tried at the Genius Bar - Apple Store)
- Airplane mode with Wifi on - failed
- Reset Network Settings - worked the first time for about 5 minutes...same result
- Reset All Settings (Cache reset) - seemed worked in the Apple Store but failed at home on the home router (Note: Home wireless router re-booted and password verified working ok on several other phones and PCs).
- Restored iPhone to factory specs and restored to last backup - seemed to work OK with router and apps but then stopped working within about 10 minutes and would not recognize the home router's password.
Initial Conclusions
- The problem is likely iOS software related, not the hardware (phone)
- The loss of both Wifi and mutiple password recognition seem common issues in all cases of failure.
