Hi, I just bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Recording Interface and it won't work with my late 2013 iMac on Garageband or anything else. I do have a sound input from the preference only. Please help.

Why would you be asking an Apple forum, clearly the issue is with your recording device, contact the developers to see if they support Yosemite 10.10.3.
Because I have a signal from the input into system preference audio and no sound can go out from my speakers and they do support 10.10.
Go to Applications->Utilities->Audio Midi Setup and see if
is properly configured and enabled.
