iOS 8 on ipad2 will not connect with google sites

I updated my wife iPad 2 to iOS 8 and I wish I had not.

Now her iPad 2 will not do google searches and I cannot connect it to any google site like mail or maps.

I am my wife's "tech" and am angry about this mess from apple.

Can any one please tell me how to fix this without making a long trip to an apple store??

I will be very thankful

If you go to Settings>Safari you can define your search engine there. As for mail - use the GMail app. Maps - use the Google Maps app.

I am running iOS 8.3 and have no problems accessing GMail, Google search, or Google Maps.

It's rather difficult to say what you have done to your iPad without some more details on what happens when you try these things.

Perhaps you should try restoring the iPad to Factory Settings:

Restore to Factory: Connect your device to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.

dilbert this helped me indirectly.

when I first tried iOS 8.3 and found I could not do google searches, I went to settings/safari and selected google as search engine.

I still could not connect to google search. but later it dawned on me to try again: select yahoo search then change to google search (all on settings for SAFARI) ---- then it dawned on me to POWER IPAD DOWN THEN BACK ON, THEN TRY GOOGLE SEARCH.

DADGUM IT WORKS, CAN NOW DO GOOGLE SEARCH AGAIN.

haven't tried other google sites yet, hoping they work!

Dilbert, thanks for your help! I appreciate this!
