date stamps appearing incorrectly on ios

Hi there

Ive been going through my newly converted library organising things and adding a few more photos. Ive recently added a bunch of old black and white scanned photos which I gave a date of 1800 just so they'd appear at the top of my list (and perhaps Id eventually find the correct dates). it all looks correct when viewed in photos on my mac, however when view on iOS the photos don't have their amended dates 😟. Am i doing something wrong or is this a bug?

many thanks for any help!

hello everyone (well just me by the looks of it 🙂 )

just reporting back on a new find. I thought Id export one of the photos id adjusted the time on just to see what it said in its meta (don't know why i didn't try this before!) and guess what.... it still has the original date stamp in its meta!

So it doesn't seem as though its a syncing issue after all but more that Photos isn't correctly changing the photos meta data.

Just to confirm, within the Photos app, the photo is displaying as being taken in 1920, when I export that photo and look at its meta, it still says it was created in 2010.

hopefully apple has read my feedback report!

Nick,

I just tried to replicate what you experienced, but for me everything worked ok. Just 2 possible causes for your problem that I can think off:

- if you modified the date in the old iPhoto application, did you leave the box called "overwrite original date" unchecked?

- when you exported from photos, did you select "unmodified original"?

Other than that I can only think off an installation problem when photos was installed - happened to me too.

Hi - thanks for the reply!

I migrated my whole library to Photos from iPhoto. Then i added a bunch of new photos which i time adjusted in the Photos app.

If i export the photo normally (option1) from Photos, it gives me the modified date. If i export as an "unmodified original" then it gives me the date before I changed the date (2010).

Why this modified date isn't transferring to my other devices I don't know 😟. Should i try reinstalling the app?

thanks again!
