Why does audio stop during playback?

I have 14 slide presentation. I added a WAV audio file through MEDIA. If I click on the audio icon, it plays fine and all the way through. However, when I hit the play button to see the slideshow, the audio cuts off midway through the first slide (and the slideshow marches on without sound). "Start Audio on Click" is unchecked. Here's what I've done to try to fix this...

- I deleted the audio file and reinserted. Made no difference.

- Under REPEAT, I tried None, Loop and Loop Back and Forth. Made no difference.

- I deleted the first slide and made a new one, then reinserted the audio file. Made no difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions as how to fix this?
