poor performance 5c

Hello. I have owned an iPhone 5 and now I have a 5c. From what I can gather, they both have the same internals yet it seems the 5c tends to be a bit slower when it comes to multitasking and downloading music from iTunes etc., then the 5 was. I would have gotten the 5s or 6 but I couldn't afford the out of pocket expense :-(

Any thoughts or tips?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
