Q: idvd media does not show photos

I can not see Photos (under Media) in iDVD since going to release 10.3.3.  Please help. I read that you can export a photo from Photos to your hard drive, which I did, but can not click and drag it into the photos pane in iDVD?  Any help would be appreciated.

It used to be easy using Apples software on a desktop. All of the products talked to each other. Now, that they are trying to make everything more like the iOS system, it seems the desktop users (very expensive desktops) are being left behind.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Sorry all, I meant 10.10.3.  Seems like it should have been a small upgrade but it was major.

Macs are no longer friendly to optical media. I normally use iMovie HD 06 when I want to make DVDs.   There is a gentleman here (Old Toad) that can probably help you. Please be patient.

Thanks for your reply Ziatron. I also use iMovie (10.0.7) but have to export the movie to Finder, then pull it back in to iDVD to burn a DVD with a theme. I read Old Toads reply to someone else in another blog that said I had to export a photo from Photos to my hard drive, which I did, but could not drag the photo from Finder into the iDVD photo pane. If there is another work around, I'd love to hear it! Thanks for any help!

Old Toad should be a level XI.  (The next time I see Tim I will suggest that.)

which I did, but could not drag the photo from Finder into the iDVD photo pane.

Only folders can be added top iDVD's Media/Photos window:

    iDVD001.jpg

So put the photos you want to have available in iDVD in a folder and drag that folder into the Media/Folders window.

Also you can still use iPhoto with 10.10.3. iPhoto 9.6.1 is compatible. If you want to try to continue using iPhoto you can try the method that Terence Devlin posted here:

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1

If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash

Install the App from the App Store.

Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
