Connecting my Nikon to my Macbook air

I am trying to connect my Nikon Coolpix P530 to my macbook air via a cable. When i initially connect the camera iPhoto opens the images on the camera, but they disappear quickly and then can't be found again. How can I connect the camera via the cable and see the images?

That means you have a 11” Macbook Air...right....??

You can buy this.....http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Windows-Certain-Android-Systems/dp/B008OZF9SQ

I think so your cable connecting the camera to the macbook has become loose or faulty. Please replace it with a new one.....http://www.amazon.com/BIRUGEAR-Data-cable-Replacement-UC-E6/dp/B007FO6HAQ

Also, before replacing the cable, try to connect your camera with the same cable to some other computer to verify if its a bad cable.

Hope this helps...
