With 10.10.3 supplemental very long login

I updated my MBA (13-inch, Mid 2011 4GB; 1.7 GHz) to 10.10.3 PLUS supplemental and when I log in it takes a VERY long time before I have the desktop appears. So, I did a restore back to 10.10.2 with Time Machine thinking that the 10.10.3 update did not go well, then a day, or so, later I re-updated, again with the supplemental, this time being ethernet connect (instead of wifi) to do the update -- the update and installation went fine, but after I log in it still takes a VERY long time (more than 8 minutes!) before the desktop appears. I've tried going to System Preferences and choosing the Startup Disk and restarting, I have zapped the PRAM, and I have done a Disk Repair all with absolutely NO improvements. I'm at a loss as to what to do now short of taking it to the Apple Store. Help! Does anyone have other ideas?
