iPhone 5s Touch ID Ruined?

A little while ago, my Touch ID sensor stopped working. I went to the Simply Mac store near me, where they opened up my iPhone 5s and confirmed that the Touch ID sensor mysteriously got in contact with water. Here's what I think happened: I was using my iPhone in a room with really warm temperatures. I think it was the humidity that ruined my Touch ID sensor.

I put my iPhone in rice for couple days for it to dry. But, it still doesn't work. I'm starting to think that my sensor will not work again after it got in contact with water because of humidity. I don't really know if there's still some moisture inside the button. But I have been kinda frustrated about this. Please help.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3
