iphone 6 won't work with honda civic

Strange problem: My wife and I both have Iphone 6's that we purchased at the same time. My iPhone 6 streams audio to her 2009 civic via the usb cable with no problem(iTunes, pandora, youtube, etc...) BUT my wife's iPhone will not. Her honda says unsupported device when we plug her's in. Both our phones are updated to IOS 8.3

I can't figure out why mine will work and hers won't. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
