Optical Drive runs constantly with no disc present

Hi Folks.

My MacBook Pro 17 is from C2006.

The optical drive is whirring all of the time. NO DISC PRESENT.

It started this a.m.

It is not the fan.

Regards,

Dave

Try SMC and NVRAM resets:

If no success, I would either open the MBP and disconnect it (not a simple task on a non-uniobody MBP) or bring it to an Apple store genius bar.

Ciao.
