Audio stopped working with built-in speakers on my mac desktop.
I checked the system preferences and everything is set up correctly. Can someone please help me to troubleshoot? thanks.

Is anything pugged into the headphone jack such as a headphone or external speakers? If not please describe in detail which system preference you looked at and what you did to troubleshoot it.
Also try a simple SMC reset to see if that helps. iMac SMC and PRAM reset
