Ok, back you YOUR words then.

"You can't fix missing circuitry with software. And no, cell phones don't have

FMantennas. You're really way out of your weight class in this argument."

the missing antenna is not an issue for SOME cell phones as they can use the headphones as an antenna. I have no idea (and don't really care) if the iPhone can or cannot.... YOU just made a FACTUALLY incorrect statement and were not very kind to the other person about it.... So that is why I called you out. So yes, I think you are correct that YOU are having a reading comprehension issue (and possibly and who issue as well, but I don't know you do can't say for sure)

Article taken from 9to5 Mac.

"It’s part of the wireless chip that provides the phone with WiFi and Bluetooth (the Murata 339S0228 chip, in the case of the

iPhone 6). Apple has this functionality switched off, and the National Association of Broadcasters would like the company to switch it on, arguing that there are a number of benefits over streamed radio content."

I've already addressed this several times, but to summarize, the radio chip in the iPhone has an FM tuner. What it doesn't have is a physical connection from the antenna pin on the chip to the outside world, so there is no way to connect an antenna of any kind, such as a headphone cord. There is also no physical connection from the FM control pins that are needed to tune the FM tuner on the chip. Or from the FM audio output so you can listen. It's not just that Apple can switch it on if they choose to, they would first have to redesign the logic board to connect the required inputs and outputs. Having an FM tuner that is not connected outside of the chip does not mean that you can somehow turn it on as if by magic. Even Apple engineers are still muggles.

I'm not sure how the statement I made is factually incorrect. The phones do not have an FM antennas (they're not big enough). They have a connect that will allow you to add an antenna (in the cases to which you refer, the headset). But that doesn't change the fact that the phones, themselves do not (and cannot) have an FM antenna.

Funny how you joined ASC just to tell us this? What makes you think we care what you buy? One should always buy the product that best meets their needs.

And which Android phone are you going to get? Last time I checked none of the current models support the FM radio capability. A few older ones did, but manufacturers pretty much universally dropped the feature.

Can we still have a working FM radio on our iPhone, please? 😉

OK, not on my current one but perhaps the next one if I can still afford the iPhone. 😟 I'm sure the muggles engineers in Apple can add whatever they need to add and connect whatever they need to connect to get the radio working. It is a matter of whether the decision makers want to have the FM radio functioning in the next iPhone or not. 😝 At the moment, we just want to whine that there is no FM radio on the iPhone. Hopefully, it will be in the next.

Yes, everyone should buy something that meets their needs. I bought androids with FM receiver for my kids. I encourage them to listen to the radio, the news, radio programmes and music. They share my data and I don't want them to burn it (needless to say video streaming is prohibited). In fact, an old Nokia phone for them will be ok but not best. In this modern age, they will still need messaging apps and a few other apps to remain competitive e.g. dictionary, and access to the web page to search for information etc. So, for now, we will need to stick to android for the kiddies.

If you need to move to android, why not? All the best. The ASC does not need to care about anyone's decision and you are entitled to your opinion. But if I work for Apple, I will want to know why my existing customers are moving over to android. For those who doesn't care, please ignore my long comments. I'm sorry that I put you through reading this. I wasted 2 min of your life. But I still want my FM radio on my iPhone... (not something else or an extra gadget). Er... and my headphone too. 😊 Chill...

People aren't moving to android. On the contrary, Android users are moving to iPhones according to the latest market updates. And if you would choose android over an iPhone simply because it has an FM radio that you can buy for $10 - well, I guess that's an individual decision.

😁 What makes you think any of us didn't? 😁 I did. But there is no harm ranting here too. I came here to look for solutions regarding intermittent connection of the radio app. All discussions point to FM radio receiver. Otherwise, switch off WiFi and pay for a good data plan (if it is available). If one lives in a place where data plan is bad, I feel sorry for this person. Buy a radio receiver and carry all the gadgets everywhere.

Yes, you are right that it is a violation of the terms and conditions. But they are not really rants and these people are entitled to their opinion. So, it is my misuse of the word "rant" on my part. But if you study the thread, one can easily identify who is the one being "angry" or not particularly polite here. If Apple doesn't like those posts, they can delete it. So, I would still say, chill out man. It is unreasonable to attack or be impolite to the person who simply answered one of the questions asked. In the terms and conditions, it is also stated that Apple may use the suggestions here. So, the suggestion is to keep the FM radio and the headphones.

What makes you think we are psychics here? And as this is a SUPPORT forum, and not a RANT forum, the answer as to where to address your "suggestion" was offered.

You are free to perpetually flog the dead horse, bang your head against the wall, and do a bunch of other time wasting stuff. In the end, no one here cares what you do, what you like and whether you follow the advice offered.

Have a nice day.
