how do I enable the FM receiver on my iPhone 6
You clearly have not read the thread you posted to, which covers in great detail why it isn't just a case of turning on a feature that is already there. AFTER you have read the thread come back if you have any questions.
"Which is why it's still a good idea to own a proper" compass as we Find this app as a Factory App ... Also you could Carry daily a good camera/camcorder and even a good phone as diverting calls with those 3 simple call fowerding conditiones is impossible on IPhone... So just in case you should allways take a HTC with you, it can save your life, not just your LifeStyle 😉

The analogy I think you're trying to make is specious. A "proper compass", unlike the one in your iPhone, does not rely on power. Therefore, it will always work. Your phone, on the other hand requires power. After a day or two of being lost in the woods, you're going to want that proper compass and be very glad you took the trouble to learn how to use it.
Yes there is. Many if not most components in an iPhone are off the shelf components meaning they aren't made by or for Apple. Broadcom's chip for WiFi and Cellular connections includes an FM tuner too. Broadcom's FM tuner turns the analog FM to a digital stream. So the iPhone can tune FM stations over the air but Apple chooses not to include an app for that and has the FM tuner portion of the chip disabled via firmware configuration.
Yes, there is an FM tuner in the chip. No, the connections that are required to use the FM tuner do not exist on the iPhone logic board. It has nothing to do with an app.
This has been pointed out over and over and over and over. Why is it impossible for normal, intelligent people to understand that in addition to a capability IN the chip you also need a capability to get stuff OUT of the chip?
Sorry, but the iphone is very capable of allowing the FM chip to work. It’s a matter of software. Not hardware. Apple doesn’t want to enable it. With a bit of time and patience, a tech savvy person like myself is very capable of activating the FM feature. I’ve been successful in doing it with my iPhone 6
Yes it does have a very capable FM receiver. All Broadcom chips do. Stop with this ******** about it being there but not connected. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.macrumors.com/2017/09/28/apple-still-urged-to-e nable-fm-radio-in-iphone/amp/
Not sure what rock you’ve been living under. But hackers have been enabling it. Mine included. Not to mention I just posted two links that prove the FM chips are capable of being easily activated. Not my fault that you refuse to accept it. Been hacking my iphones for years.

You did? Where? All I saw two links to the same article that primarily quoted a broadcasting lobbying group and an FCC chairman known for his strong sympathies for broadcasting industry.

What part of the "rumours" element of those links do you not understand?
There Is an entire industry based on making up stuff about Apple to generate eyeballs for ads. Sound familiar?
Any government official that implies public safety is being compromised by Apple's lack of action is not to be believed.

The irony is in the fact that after hurricane Harvey decimated Houston only cell phones worked. All of the radio stations were off the air.

Exactly. Devastation is devastation. What broadcaster's signal is able to reach Puerto Rico at present for an FM radio to intercept?
Add to that, if you check FEMA's "preparedness" checklist(s) for hurricanes, there is zero mention of either a cellphone (with or without FM radio functionality) or even a portable radio itself.
The FCC seems to place a higher value on FM radio than FEMA.

I still don't see the links to articles explaining how the chip can be easily activated. I'd be very interested in reading them.
Courcoul you're incorrect. Most Smart phones and even previous iPhones had FM circuitry inside and even Apple admits this. The iPhone 7's and 8's finally had them omitted.
Here's a current story on it:
FCC asks Apple to activate the iPhone’s hidden FM radio to aid public safety - The Verge
Here's a list of Cell phones that still have FM Chips inside. http://nextradioapp.com/supported-devices/
Do you know how many operating radio stations were left in PR after Maria? Zero. They finally got WAPA operating after a few days, and by then there was limited cel coverage in some parts of the island.
