I have the iphone 6 using IOS 8.3. My pictures in my imessages now only show jped icon. The image is gone. How do i get it back?

I have the iphone 6 using IOS 8.3. My pictures in my imessages now only show jpeg icon. The image itself is gone. I tried just turning it off and back on and then did a reset with the power and home screen buttons but neither worked. How do I get it back?
