iPad air will not upload contacts or calendar from i cloud

new iPad air purchased. Have set up a new cloud location. I have used an old address to load music, photos, apps, but I am not able to download contract or calendar from iCloud. I have tried logging in and ensure summary in iTunes has contact and calendar on.

Any ideas.
