Hi I just hooked up an apple tv this weekend. Now on my macbook under finder >> devices I see something listed with [my name]lab534. Is this the AppleTV box? I cannot connect to it and I cannot see the appletv in the list either. I cannot access any additional info either, the more info just scrolls endlessly. In my network map I see the appletv but not this [my name]lab534 device. Does anyone know what this lab534 is?

The only way appletv show up on computers are as airplay speakers nothing else
If you do "Get Info" (ctrl-click on device name or right-click if you have secondary click enabled) what does it say? Under General it should say what kind of device it is.
it says pc which is doubly confusing. Could it be a virtual drive? I've just never seen it before today so I immediately thought it was the apple tv I set up this weekend

It very likely isn't the Apple TV or others would have chimed in.
My approach would be to scan the network. There is a free iPhone app called Net Analyzer Lite that will do this. If you need something for the Mac, you can search "lan scan" in the Mac App Store - there is one freebee there.
Thanks for that suggestion. It seems to be displaying the LLMR name of the apple TV device. I am glad it was not some intruder.
