Light Rays filter is not rendering

Hello all, I am applying the light rays filter to a gif.

When I render the animation it's pixelated, any way to make it work?

I'm using motion 5.2

Cheers.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

The gif itself is pretty big and renders well with no effects applied, it is only when the light rays filter is applied that it all goes badly pixelated, I am not talking about the slight perception of aliased edges, the gif becomes ridiculously pixelated. I am away from my computer and therefore cannot provide a screenshot, I will try to show one as soon as I can.

Again thank you for your help.

Be sure that in the Render menu (top right of Canvas) you have Resolution set to Full, turn off Dynamic, and Quality set to Best. Otherwise Motion may degrade an image simply to give you better playback performance. You can test this by exporting the project to a QT movie file and seeing what the final product looks like.

Hello again, here's a screen shot of what I've described, all the settings you've mentioned have been applied to no avail.

Here is what the image looks like without the filter:

This is what it looks like once we apply the filter, again the settings you mentioned have been applied:

Any idea why this is happening? by the way I had an older version of Motion where this didn't occur. It's only when I upgraded the whole programme that this happened.

Cheers.

That happens when the resolution in the Render menu is set to low. It should still export just fine. I'm testing on a PNG and a JPEG and they work fine. I wouldn't touch a GIF format graphic for this type of work for any amount of money in the world. Convert it to a PNG first. And make sure its frame size is at least that of your project.
