Removed Music still on iPod (greyed out)

It all started when I plugged in my iPod Touch (4th gen) today into my PC as usual. All of my music was suddenly deleted, I hadn't stopped the sync and I didn't unplug the USB. It just all vanished. After screwing up the recovery process, I decided I'd just add my music manually back onto my iPod from iTunes.

At first I used the Autofill option, but then realized once it had finished that I didn't want all 1400+ of the songs from my iTunes library on my iPod. So I selected all of the music on my iPod (in the "On My Device > Music") section and deleted it, and in the Summary section it had said all songs were off my iPod. I then began to add 700 songs I wanted back onto my iPod. They were all successfully put back on my iPod, everything was cool.

However, when scrolling through my iPod music on my actual device screen, I can still see the other songs that I had deleted already and they are greyed out. I tried syncing and re-syncing my iPod several times hoping it would update itself with the changes i had done to the device through my iTunes. I restarted my iPod, updated the software, and it still is showing the old songs. I'm confused because in iTunes under "On My Device > Music" it shows the 700 songs I kept that are on my iPod, and not all of the extra ones I have already deleted. So where are the greyed out items on my device, and how do I get to them so I can delete them? I'm sure i screwed things up in some way.

I'm on the iOS 6.1.6 and my iTunes is 12.1.1.4

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync/delete all music and resync

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
