Can iMovie 10 support 4:3 format

I've been trying to bring in 4:3 videos that was created in previous versions of iMovie...and exported as .MOV files.

I want to bring them into iMovie and preserve 4:3 format.

Everything I try starts out creating a new movie in 16:9.

Is there a preferences switch or something I'm missing or is iMovie 10 simply not set for creation of 4:3 Format movies?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Mac (27-inch, Late 2013), IPAD Air

No. iMovie 10 only works in and exports 16:9 aspect ratio. You have either to crop top and bottom of clips so they fit the screen or have black bars either side.
