I'm still able to get on the net through firefox.
Additionally a good app I use to scan for malware can be found here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bitdefender-virus-scanner/id500154009?mt=12
its on the app store, so you will be fine
If something is found, it will be terminated and you should get access to Safari once again!
Hope this helps 🙂
I had already responded, they offered to clean up my mac for $249.00, didn't happen.

Did you allow them to login to your Mac?
yes
Then your Mac is compromised. You should erase it and install a new operating system, restore your data from your backup. You should also change all passwords, especially ones for financial accounts.
Never let a stranger (this one was a criminal) login to your Mac.
This is a popular scam. Read "Ransomware" web pages.
Thanks for your help and advice.
Thank you.
Read Ransomware, pressed shift button while opening Safari and that cleared the pop up window and allowed Safari to open. Thanks a lot.
You should follow Csound1's advice and erase and reinstall.
You should also carefully and diligently monitor all your accounts. A client of mine lost everything he had in the bank via his compromised PayPal account.
I recently found out that Apple had disabled my iTunes account due to my credit card being involved in the Home Depot hack. $500 was skimmed out via charges to iTunes.
Not much experience, do not have my macbook pro backed up and don't know how to erase and reinstall new operating system. I assume i can get some direction at the local Apple Store. Thanks again!
