can't delete previous MacBook owners apple ID when trying to install updates even though i have an apple ID already!!

You need to delete and redownload those applications; the incorrect Apple ID is stored inside them.

It might be best to completely erase your hard drive or you won't be able to reinstall the OS either as any OS or app obtained at the app store is not transferable - use Internet Recovery, holding Command + Option + R keys (recovery) immediately after boot up; when you see the Utilities screen, choose Disk utility to erase your hard drive. It should then offer to reinstall the original OS version which will not be tied to any Apple ID, so you can associate the OS and machine to your Apple ID and download any upgrade OS and apps using your own Apple ID.
