stock email will pull up but bleep out

I have an iphone 4s and after trying to send a very large email holding pictures my phone froze and then kicked me out of my stock email app. Every time I attempt to open the app it pulls up as though it is functioning normally, waits with a blank screen for about 10 seconds and then bleeps off either to a black screen or just back to my home screen. I have tried resetting the phone, deleting the email accounts and resetting the phone and then putting them back on and still nothing is working. I logged into itunes on my computer and synced the phone but it is still not recognizing a problem. Is there anything that I can do to fix this?
