Why when I try to transfer my pictures to a usb do only some of them work?

WWhen transferring pictures to a usb drive some of them show up as no content. Is there something wrong with my computer or pictures?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I Imported pictures into my iPhoto then edited them and now it shows that some of them take up 0 megabytes of memory. Does that mean they don't exist?
