DVD write failure

I have a relatively new MacBook Pro with OS X 10.10.3 (14D136). It has a Samsung DVD writer attached. When I send a single folder or a bunch of files to burn to this disc it works fine. When I stack some folders into Burn Folder.fpbf and click on BURN it comes up with the disk name ok then comes up with “Burn Folder.fpbf” is too large to fit on the disc. Remove some files and try again. A check on the folders in the burn folder shows them to be 14.5 MB. I have 175 GB space on my hard drive. Why does this not burn?
